American physician, Dr Steven Tucker, is a medical specialist living and practicing in Singapore since 2006.
While originally trained as a cancer specialist at the UCLA Center for Health Sciences, Dr Tucker currently focuses on both adult general medicine and cancer medicine. His practice ranges from the prevention of disease and illness to the treatment of both acute and chronic medical problems.
Dr Tucker is also an expert in medical technology and digital health. By studying information from multiple sources, such as personal genetics, metabolic testing, sensors and activity trackers, he helps patients develop personalized health plans that combine the elements of behavioral change with those of conventional medicine, as necessary.
Whenever possible, he promotes lifestyle interventions and patient empowerment to prevent and treat diseases, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer.
Dr Tucker has received numerous honors and awards including a prestigious Merit Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology, a Commendation from the US National Institutes of Health, the UCLA ‘STAR’ Program Award and Pew Foundation Fellowship. Dr Tucker is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS), as well as an Officer of the Chapter of Medical Oncologists, College of Physicians Singapore (CPS). He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Preventive Oncology, the Singapore Urological Association and the Singapore Society of Oncology. He is also an Officer of the American Association of Singapore and on the Board of Directors.
Dr Tucker lectures frequently in Singapore and abroad to industry and health leaders.
Dr Caron Sak graduated from the University of Leeds with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB UK) in 1997. She went on to obtain a Graduate Diploma of Family Medicine and is currently a registered Family Physician with the Singapore Medical Council. She has worked in Singapore hospitals and polyclinics prior to joining Tucker Medical in 2016.
Dr Sak brings considerable experience in women’s health, chronic disease management, and acute and emergent care, as well as skills in minor surgical procedures in her practice. Additionally, she looks forward to advancing her strong interest in the complex intersection of nutrition and genetics with conventional medical care.
Dr Sak strives for and advocates for a wholesome work life balance. Her personal and professional balance includes being available to her family as well as volunteering as a worship leader and story teller with the Children’s Ministry at Wesley Methodist Church. She also remains active and fit with regular kickboxing and zumba workouts.
With her boundless optimism and excellent communication skills, she is passionate in bringing about positive changes to her patients’ lives. Dr. Sak strongly believes that every individual should be empowered to make informed decisions about his/her health and wellness.
Dr. Brian Schwender is an American Board Certified physician in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology & Hepatology. He has been practicing medicine since 2003 in the United States before moving his family to Singapore in 2014. In Singapore, he was working and teaching in both Gastroenterology and Hepatology, at Singapore General Hospital.
By joining Tucker Medical, Dr. Schwender’s motivation is to combine the highest quality individualized patient care with a holistic approach to health. Having now worked both in the United States and Asia, Dr. Schwender has a deeper knowledge of the local, regional, and global medical conditions affecting patients and the experience to help prevent, and not just treat, disease.
Dr. Schwender is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School. As a member of the Singhealth Internal Medicine Core Faculty, he received numerous accolades, including the Singhealth Internal Medicine Residency Outstanding Clinician Award. Recently, Dr. Schwender was awarded the prestigious title of Fellow of The American Society of Gastroenterological Endoscopy (FASGE) in 2017.
With experience beyond general gastroenterology, Dr. Schwender has a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (including Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis), as well as irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease and esophageal reflux disease. He is an expert in numerous endoscopic techniques including diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy and upper endoscopy, as well as extensive experience with wireless capsule endoscopy, push enteroscopy and chromoendoscopy for Ulcerative Colitis and cancer surveillance.
In his personal time, Dr Schwender enjoys spending time with his wife, Carmen, and their two young children, Connor and Emma. He’s an outdoor enthusiast enjoying mountaineering, hiking, skiing and golf.
